Lena Jackson is an award nominated hip-hop artist and poet hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina. Primarily born and raised in poverty stricken areas, Lena grew up with music as her focal point of comfort, with writing as her therapy. Jackson started penning poetry as a child, but later became intrigued by cypher sessions she would see in school cafeterias in her early teens. She eventually learned to interchange poetry stanzas for rap bars, and found pleasure in both spoken word and cypher rapping. Her influences include Nas, MC Lyte, Outkast, Missy Elliot, and Bone Thugs & Harmony.
Jackson has rocked on the same bills as Hip-Hop icons Dead Prez and Blueprint. She has performed at events such as Beats N Bars Festival, The Carrboro Music Festival, Yo! NC Raps and The Pre-Carolina Music Awards concert.
Affectionately referred to as "The Wolf" by her musical peers, guest features and live performances expose her raw talent and spirited personality. Her intensity is evident in her 2018 release "The Darkness Brim" EP, which displays her verbal skill set while expounding on darker topics not typically discussed in mainstream hip-hop; issues such as poverty, domestic violence and mental health. With profound messages and powerful delivery, Lena Jackson is prepared to interject a different, deeper and doper perspective into the rap game.
